In our state we have watched the number of health insurers evaporate from the marketplace over the last 15 years and This has driven up the cost to consumers. I would like to see the elimination of the road blocks that prevent out of state insurers from offering their products to Washington citizens. I would also like to see some flexibility in state mandated benefits, there is no one size fits all. We need to be free to choose what health insurance benefits are right for our personal needs, not have them dictated to us.
If flexibility could be obtained and the gatekeeper attitude that the Office of the Insurance Commissioner has towards allowing insurers to do business in this state was removed, the consumer would benefit greatly and this is the goal of my campaign.
